What is the Credit Union Alliance?
The Credit Union Alliance is a voluntary cooperative network of Credit Unions in San Diego. These credit unions serve nearly 1,000,000 members from select employee groups and diverse fields of membership. The Credit Union Alliance addresses the unique needs of credit unions in areas of issues management, cooperative marketing and regional operations.

Why was the Credit Union Alliance created?
The Credit Union Alliance was created in September 1999 as an extension of the San Diego Credit Union CEO Association. The original purpose of the organization was to serve as a vehicle to present a present a unified message to members about the then-pending Y2K Bug. Today, the Credit Union Alliance has grown to address the unique needs of San Diego's credit unions in areas of issues management, community relations, cooperative marketing and regional operations.

How is the Credit Union Alliance organized?
Credit Union Alliance participants select one individual to spearhead Credit Union Alliance activities and offer selected support functions through their credit union. This individual also acts as the organization’s lead spokesperson. The remaining credit unions each provide a single representative who attends scheduled Credit Union Alliance meetings and provides ongoing information and input to the organization.

Is the Credit Union Alliance open to all San Diego credit unions?
Yes. The Credit Union Alliance welcomes any San Diego-based credit union regardless of size or field of membership. Participants are required to pay scalable dues based on the number of members within their credit union.

Why isn't my credit union involved in the Credit Union Alliance?
Local credit unions are not required to join the Credit Union Alliance. Participation is strictly voluntary. However, local credit unions are encouraged to share in the unique spirit of collaboration, idea exchange and community activism that the Credit Union Alliance strives to promote.

Is the Credit Union Alliance affiliated with CUNA?
There is no direct affiliation. However, the Credit Union Alliance is also philosophically aligned with Credit Union National Association (CUNA) through promotional campaigns including "Credit Union Youth Week" and the "Credit Union Difference" campaigns.

Most Credit Union Alliance participants, on an individual basis, are members of CUNA. This organization, based in Washington, D.C., and Madison, Wisconsin, is the premier national trade association serving America's credit unions. CUNA is a key information resource for Credit Union Alliance participants, that provides many services to credit unions, including representation, information, public relations, continuing professional education, and business development.
